Nadja Lind presents her debut solo album on the Lucidflow imprint, the label run by she and production partner Helmut Ebritsch. Nadjas formidable recording CV includes music on Darkroom Dubs, Outpost, BBE, Gatspiel, Parquet and Absurd Records. Based in Berlin she draws endless inspiration from the German capital, fuelling her creativity to explore the many sides of her artistic self. The desire to find people on the same musical tip, caused her to leave her native Rhineland; now running a label, regularly playing solo DJ gigs and working as one half of production duo Klartraum she has rarely looked back. Linds debut artist album, Brain Candy, draws its inspiration from the artists passion for electronic music as well as the deeply spiritual side to her character. The opening track, Limbus (meaning the deepest level of dream state) is built around a composition that offers a warm welcome to the listener, atmospheric pads loom over a steady drum beat drawing you into a trance like state. Chatlag encompasses spooky tones and a monotonous arpeggiated bassline that really captures the essence of the darker side of Nadjas production.A Choice the fifth track on the album features a female spoken word vocal about taking responsibility of your life and the choices you make, a gripping subject that works well with the contemplative pads that sit nicely behind it, delayed stabs add to the movement of the track creating a spellbinding groove. Tyrannosaurus Lutz is a fast paced techno track similar to those of early Plastikman records, rumbling bass with heavily delayed percussive hits that roll off one another perfectly and a low pitched vocal that adds to the driving approach she has opted for. After The Rain was a fantastic choice to wind down the album taking things deeper with wonderful textures, house chords and the sound of raindrops that she recorded during a thunderstorm, adding to the ambience of the track. The album as a whole is an incredible portrayal of Nadjas way of being, She has touched on many things that are close to her as a person and expressed those feelings through her music, as her first solo album it has provided her with the opportunity to showcase to the world what she really represents at this moment in her life. The definitive vibe transcends as dark room dubby techno made with a high level of intelligence and passion for what she does resulting in a truly enthralling listen, enjoy.
